Community Celebration & Open House Event
Sunday, September 21
1:00 - 4:00

Sunday, September 21 is the day of the People's Climate March when people around the country will gather and stand-up for clean energy.  We believe that this is a very important day and that everyone should get involved.  Come visit us after you march to relax with friends, food, games, and live music!

Pringle Creek Community is a place where we "live the dream."  We utilize solar and geothermal energy in highly energy efficient buildings where we're super comfortable and our conscience is clear.

Come out and see the future!  Experience the joy & comfort of a sustainable lifestyle at our event this Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00.

Celebrate Community
Interact with our community partners, enjoy samples of local fresh produce, taste samples of cheese, coffee, & beer.  Play bocce with the Salem Bocce League!  Learn about local organizations working to increase our community's overall quality of life through music, fun, education, and the airwaves.

Full Circle Creamery, Steel Bridge Coffee, Straub Environmental Learning Center, Bike Peddler, the Northwest Permaculture Institute, Marion-Polk Food Share, Garten Services, Marion County Environmental Services, and KMUZ are among those who'll be here.

Visit with Megha Joshi, an eighth-grader at Blanchet Catholic School and theonly Salem semi-finalist in the national MASTERS science & engineering fair.  She'll be here showing her solar-powered water filtration system.  We're honored that she's agreed to join us!

Happenings at Pringle Creek Community

A lot is happening at Pringle Creek Community these days!

Have you heard of the new show, Utopia, a 'reality' show on Fox?  It seems the producers are capitalizing on the fact that building cooperative, sustainable communities isn't easy and tends to be filled with conflict - and is perhaps insurmountable?

Conflict is real - how we approach it is our choice

Starting this Thursday, Tim Buckley is offering a class at Painters Hall demonstrating that, as it is true that conflict is a regular part of everyday life, compassionate and effective communication is possible - and enjoyable.  Tim will help participants to experience that it is possible to work amicably through conflict and to create consensus.

Join Tim at Painters Hall Thursday, Sept. 11, after yoga, from 6:30 - 8:30 for Compassionate Communication, the first of an 11-part course.  If interested, email Tim at tbucktoo@comcast.net

Don't forget yoga!  Every Thursday at 5:00.

Come to our Community Celebration and Open House!
September 21 from 1:00 - 4:00

We'll have food from local producers such as Life Source and Full Circle Creamery
Beer from Gilgamesh Brewery
Games such as bocce, hosted by the Salem Bocce League, badminton, and croquet
A water balloon toss
and Open Houses!

See how living sustainably and energy efficiently is enjoyable, fun, comfortable, and cost-effective

Check out our plentiful orchards!

Our orchards are bountiful!  We're harvesting and utilizing the abundance of fruit that's grown in the orchard this year.  The neighbors picked what they wanted, we harvested for use in the cafe, and we called in Salem Harvest to collect what we couldn't to benefit others in the wider community.  We've gathered the peaches and plums already.  Next are the pears and apples!

Chef Dave's going to make pear and apple cider using an apple press. Yum!

Permaculture is coming to Pringle Creek Community in October!

We're partnering with the Northwest Permaculture Institute and will have a film showing the 4th Tuesday of each (except for November and December).  We'll also host a permaculture 9-week class starting the first Tuesday of October.

Keep an eye on happenings at Pringle Creek Community and stop in for breakfast or lunch!
